Fingernail Surgery is a concept photoshoot focusing on the physical insecurities I suffer from.

Inspired by the 'yarn makeup' trend, I wanted to put in my own twist by using bandages instead. I layered over the features I personally feel insecure about. My acne scars, the moles on my nose and chin, my mouth to cover my bunny teeth. I had layered on makeup above the bandages, following the makeup style of Marilyn Monroe, an icon known for her conventional beauty.

I realised while shooting this set of pictures that I didn't look much like myself. It's the little imperfections that make up how we look. I'm more accepting with the parts of me I don't like because they make up who I am. I may not like certain features of myself but each of these features may be someone else's favourite part of me.

You may not be conventionally attractive but you are beautiful in your own way.
